What the two knobs actually do

Drag the controls and watch the envelope change. The faint line behind is the starting position, so you see the difference and not just the state.

How it works

Two knobs, because two is enough

Most transient shapers give you six parameters and a graph. Frost gives you attack and sustain, and does the rest with a detector that follows the material instead of a fixed window.

Attack−100 to +100. Positive sharpens the hit, negative softens it without dulling the tail.
Sustain−100 to +100. Shortens or extends the body. Extending stays clean up to about +60 on most drums.
DetectorFollows the signal rather than a fixed time window, so it behaves the same on a 60 BPM kick and a 170 BPM snare.
LatencyZero. Nothing to compensate, safe on a live drum bus.
CPURoughly 0.4 percent of one core on an M-series Mac.
RequiresAbleton Live 11 or 12 with Max for Live. Tested on macOS 13 and later and Windows 11.
DeliveryZIP containing the .amxd device and a one-page PDF manual.
